Musings

These posts are my musings and cover many topics.  Some posts will be observations that I have made over my lifetime...some will be what I call, truisms.  Truisms that I have developed from having to deal with the tough situations life sometimes deals us.  I developed these little philosophies to help me avoid a situation in the future or  to allow me to have a better outcome the next time around.  All observations, truisms , and whatever other post this blog contains are  based on my own personal experiences and  opinions.  Hopefully, some post will be of some help to someone in a situation or  give someone another perspective...another way of looking/thinking about a situation that is helpful.  I love writing these posts and I appreciate you  reading them :-)

Please be aware there is a NEW  feature added to  some of the Musings.....AUDIO....There will be an audio bar on those Musings that offer this option.....You may not feel like reading at that moment....now you may listen:-)

A FRIEND INDEED !

Everyone is familiar with the saying ......you can always tell who your friends are when you're down and out.  My experience throughout life, in my career and personal achievements, is the exact opposite.

I have found that people become uncomfortable (to varying degrees) when their friends(siblings, family, SO's) have greater success over time than they do.  This could mean a bigger house, better car, promotions, etc.. They love/like you when you are down or not doing as well as them but, will they stay and be supportive as you  move ahead of them?

Thus, a truism:

A real friend will be supportive as you move ahead on the path to success and still be there when you have "made it" and they have not.

It is rare to find people in and throughout our lives that have that quality...who are secure within themselves. So that where you are  in relation to themselves  is not a factor in friendship.

Interesting thought. Will have to ponder that for awhile. Going through a difficult time right now, I have found genuine, caring friendship from acquaintances that I never expected and those I thought would care, don't. But I do see your point, the jealousy factor often ruin relationships of all kinds...

Yes, it has been true in both case's. When you appear successful in someone else's eyes they might enjoy your comradely. Possibly it is because it's something they may or may not have, thus stimulates a feel good for them; something new which eventually wears-off.
There have been many times when things were not going so-well, and there are many who become accustomed to the way things are, and are not motivated to change.
The point being I'm comfortable with, and have made many adjustments over the years; even though some could have considered friends all have dropped off the face of the earth.
Continually, I am surprised, the most unlikely situations open doors to people who have become the most (spiritually) supportive...
Of course, it is important not to take any of it personally. People will "always" come and go, and probably 98% of the time has nothing to do with me; their path simply looks different regardless of whether my life appears to be in the hole, or on the up-side of things.
Beautiful thought my friend...

I appreciate your very thoughtful comment. It added additional substance to my post. I especially agree with your comment that people come and go and it usually has nothing to do with you ....I also agree about changing to try to "keep" these people ..to accomodate them....just doesn't work. Yes, they do seem to "drop off the earth".....this has happened to me personally with very long time friends.....the important thing, I think( and I know you do also), and my reason for doing this and future posts is not to let the impact of their behaviors to close, narrow, or "dry up" our hearts so that we are open and can let new people enter.......(and go thru the whole process again :-) )...thank you again for reading my post and taking the time to give such valuable insight........

Enjoyed reading your musings. My personal web site is www.thebluesjamsessions.com. Its purpose is a place for the beginning guitarist to come to and jam along with r&b tracks.
Just as you did, I designed my whole site from scratch.
After several revisions it materialized to be as it is now;thank god.(:
Check it out. See you on sound cloud.

Loved the quotes in "Vitamins For The Mind"
Have you thought of linking your comment page at the end of all your quotes and topic pages????

Thank you, Ted , for the kind words....I appreciate your input...that's a good point...i am thinking about that...first, I need a General comment page, I think, and then link it to the other pages...this way...people won't have to hunt down a way to leave a comment...like you did...and use a blog post...this way they can comment generally or on the music etc....great suggestion, Ted and once I get Google sitemap issues resolved...i will get serious about it:-)

I appreciate you stopping by , Ted :-) I stopped by and took a quick look at your site and it is just awesome!!...i was so impressed as it looked like a site designer did it !!! I am planning to spend more time there ....even though I am a cello, I am a curious cello....and look over and listen to your music tracks....you are doing a WONDERFUL thing for student guitarists....something that will encourage them to keep on keeping on....speaking from experience, that is is the most difficult part of learning anything....Please stop by from time to time to see what's new here....my music will be posted here first before Cloud....there are 3 pieces here now that are not on Cloud at this time:-)

    Who Am I ?

I am an adult female who is a cellist, composer, and a student of life experiences (by necessity).  I feel we are all students in life until the day we die.  I am, a realist and I try to stay grounded in what I feel is  the truth in any situation. I feel we have a responsibility to God, ourselves, and the people who love us to be the very best person we can be.
