ZADLO'S SONG OPUS 1 (Cello Duet)
ZADLO'S SONG OPUS 1 A (Cello Solo)
ZADLO'S SONG OPUS 1 A (Cello Solo)
Zadlo's Song is my first music composition. It started out as a one line melody and then upon the encouragement of a friend I added the second part....instead of an accompaniment part, I decided on a cello duet.....I was so happy doing this and thinking of Zadlo and all the wonderful sounds he could make. I started this piece by writing a few sentences about Zadlo. One of them , I remember , was.....I love Zadlo because he resonates like crazy....who wouldn't be happy writing music thinking about her cello who resonates like crazy :-) There were a few others along that same line . I am sure this is why this piece has such a happy feel about it :-). I wanted to show Zadlo's lower and higher range and how he can be made to show emotion.
There is a little "secret" story behind my first composition that makes it rather unique in my mind. The friend who showed and taught me about chords gave me a theory exercise....I was always getting theory exercises which were very difficult for me as I was so clueless...but, I liked them. For this one...I had to put the notes of the 12 step scale on pieces of paper ..small and folded...so they can be put into a container...bowl...and drawn out...I was to draw out 7 notes.....and I had to make a composition from only those 7 notes but any octave and can use them as many times as I needed to....well, I confess, I cheated...I drew a C# and traded it for a C.....sigh....I ALWAYS have problems following the rules :-)....so, Zadlo's Song Duet was composed by using sentences about him and pulling 7 notes from a bowl.....to me...it is a miracle that I composed this and it made me very happy...now, of course, I use chord progressions to compose my music. However, it showed me that my ears knew what sounds needed to be put together...and I, believe, but am not sure, that was the objective of it :-)...
I am happy that I thought about making my first music composition about Zadlo....after all, without him , I wouldn't be able to make my cello sounds :-)
One day, I just wanted to play Zadlo's Song the way I felt it....free of constrictions.....a duet is somewhat constrictive...so , I wrote a Solo Zadlo's Song and played it the way I felt it should be played....from my heart with my beautiful cello's voice singing out....this , for sure is...Zadlo's Song :-)
Please note:...the Solo music is my playing.....the Duet is digital cello...( the duet will be rerecorded with my playing in the very near future)...
