The Marine Mammal Center posted Bogey's story on their Facebook page and asked that people "adopt" him(donate)..........I couldn't take my eyes off that photo, his sad but happy ending story, and.....his name :-)....I was hooked and I was happy to "adopt" him like I did Silent Night a while back..........I heard music in my head but, it wasn't regular cello music.......it was boogie woogie music.....it was the name that inspired that I am sure :-)...Bogey's Boogie is the result....it's a cello trio... and it's dedicated to the real Bogey who I hope will be happily swimming around the coast of California for many years to come........
note: Bogey's Boogie is currently played with software cello.....this will be recorded with my cello in the near future.
BOGEY'S STORY:
Just a few days old, harbor seal pup Bogey was found alone just below the ninth hole of the Pebble Beach Golf Links. This poor orphaned pup had somehow been separated from his mother and was much too young to survive on his own.
Because Bogey was so young and unable to eat whole fish, he was tube-fed nutritious “fish smoothies” five times a day. He then was able to transition to eating whole fish and learned to forage for fish independently, just as he would in the wild.
After months of care at the Center, Bogey was released along with two other harbor seals at Point Reyes National Seashore.
